Best practice - Edition 1 : How to make a UX research?
Good design delights a person, bad design frustrates them.
Recently, a product manager approached me with the following question:
"I work for a very small startup and I always feel that we should be doing more user research, but it is difficult to secure funding for it. Team members seem to worry that the return on investment will be minimal, considering that we have to spend a lot just to get started with expensive software and resources. What are some ways we can conduct research more cheaply, without compromising on quality?"
So, I decided to write this article to help him make decisions.
7 pillars:
It is useful, usable, findable, desirable, accessible, credible, and valuable without conscious effort.
"Empathy is at the heart of design. Design is a pointless task without understanding what others see, feel, and experience."
What is UX research?
It can be any research activity involving interactions between the research team and the target group or between the target group and the product.
Everything that can be monitored, documented, analyzed, and dated.
Reasons why this research is important.
It helps us understand the needs and problems of users and our customers.
We improve the usability of all products resulting in more satisfied customers. Who will use your services more often and even recommend you further
Not only does research reduce the risk of misjudgment, but it also reveals new opportunities for innovation. UX research provides invaluable insights into product users and what they need and value.
You gain valuable data that gives you confidence in further decision-making.
What goals can be achieved with properly conducted research.
Increase conversion rate
Increase the number of registrations
Increase NPS (net promoter score)
Increase customer satisfaction
Increase the rate of purchases
Strengthen brand loyalty
Reduce the number of calls to customer support
How it is realized:
Before starting research, user experience researchers must first formulate a research question that will guide the type of research they choose.
Exploratory research - is research in which ideas emerge and problems are defined, and in which researchers ask the question "what happens if ...?"
Explanatory research - answers the question "What is happening and why is it happening?" and is suitable for the phase when the solution is defined.
Evaluative research - suitable for the question "Are we approaching our requirements or are we improving?" Suitable for the phase in which the proposed solution to the problem in the interface is being assessed.
Causal research - will suit questions "What influences x?" and is about the phase where understanding and accuracy of the solution is.
How to understand your users and what they want: a complete guide to UX research
User Experience (UX) Research is the study of all your user groups and how they interact with your product or service.
It helps us create a product our users love and validate decisions, such as finding out if our users will like our new feature, or if a design change will positively affect their experience.
I believe it can bring us much more than just conversions.
That's where the whole process begins for us. It is the complete basis that defines the development of design and product.
A key phase that defines the future shape and execution.
Serve functionalities and benefits on a platter.
So that every step is predictable and as intuitive as possible.
Understanding the problem, naming risks, and focusing on the solution.
